Two firemen rushed to Alor Gajah hospital after suffering breathing difficulties

ALOR GAJAH: Two firemen suffered breathing difficulties and were rushed to Alor Gajah Hospital while dousing fire at a religious school in Taboh Naning here.

Alor Gajah Fire and Rescue Department chief, Fire Supt Mohd Amri Omar said their conditions were stable without any serious injuries.

He said the 18 firemen arrived at the scene at 12.45pm and the fire was brought under control about 30 minutes later despite low water supply.

Mohd Amri said the fire damaged 45% of the structure while there were 10 students, aged nine to 20 years, who were resting at the hostel when the fire started.

He said none of the students sustained injuries.

Mohd Amir said the building structure was partly wooden and the fire was believed to have sparked from the front of the school.

“We are still probing the actual cause of the fire,” he added.
