KUALA LUMPUR: The Education Ministry is waiting for results of the investigation into a case in which students were allegedly bitten by a male teacher at a school in Kelantan.
Its Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the ministry would not compromise on any sort of violence including bullying or abuse towards students.
"We are waiting for the results of the investigation that has been submitted to authorities from the state education department," she told reporters after officiating the Digital Utilisation and Technology Awards 2022 ceremony on Tuesday (July 11).
Fadhlina was commenting on a woman’s statement claiming that her son felt afraid to go to school because he was often bitten by a male teacher.
She claimed that her son was not the only victim as it had also occurred to several other students, in a social media post that went viral on Sunday (July 9).
The incident had left students traumatised and emotionally distraught.

She also said that the ministry would announce any important updates for this case.
Fadhlina gave her assurance that any complaints involving violence would be investigated.
"However, it (complaints) must go through the correct channels and process," she said, adding that this included investigating and verifying the claims.
Separately, Fadhlina said the Digital Education Policy had been raised and approved by the Cabinet.
She said she hoped this policy would bridge the digital gap between all the schools in Malaysia.
In 2021, former education minister Radzi Jidin said the policy was being drafted to produce a competitive digitally-savvy generation.
