State polls: Penang CM post to remain with DAP, but no names finalised, says Loke

PETALING JAYA: The post of Penang chief minister will continue to belong to DAP but no names have been finalised, says Anthony Loke.

The DAP secretary-general said the party would continue to hold the position of Penang's chief minister, should the unity government win in the upcoming state elections.

"The understanding within the unity government is that Penang will continue to be led by DAP.

"Once we form the state government, then a leader from DAP will be supported and nominated to be the chief minister of Penang," he said after attending a forum here on Tuesday (July 11).

However, Loke said the candidates for the position as well as for the other state seats in the upcoming state elections had yet to be finalised.

"We will continue to discuss it over the next few days and I believe further announcements will be made in the next one or two weeks.

"There will also be a central executive committee meeting soon to discuss our approach and strategy in the coming state elections including our line-up and our approach," he said.
