Three injured after 4WD plunges into 30m ravine in Kundasang

KOTA KINABALU: Three people were rushed to the hospital after the vehicle they were travelling in plunged into a 30m ravine at a village in hilly Kundasang on Tuesday (July 11).

Two of the injured victims - a man and a woman - were brought to the Ranau district hospital by civilians before authorities arrived. The third victim, a woman, was rescued by firefighters.

The Fire and Rescue Department initially received a report on the incident at 6.08pm involving a four-wheel drive that fell into the ravine on Jalan Mesilou in Kampung Montoki.

“A team of firemen from Ranau carried up the victim who was found in the ravine. The victim was given preliminary treatment by medical personnel before being sent to the hospital.

“The operation ended at 7.27pm after inspecting the area to ensure there were no more risks,” said a department spokesman.
