TMJ meets DPM Lawrence Wong in Singapore


JOHOR BARU: Tunku Mahkota of Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim held a meeting with Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, who is also the Finance Minister, at The Treasury as part of his official visit to the republic.

A post on the HRH Crown Prince of Johor’s official Facebook page said Singapore was a strategic economic partner of the state and there was potential for greater growth in the future.

"The discussion focused on the proposed Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone to be set up in Johor and the further strengthening of trade and investment ties between Singapore and the state,” said the statement.

Tunku Ismail is on an official visit from yesterday (July 10) until tomorrow at the invitation of Singapore Foreign Minister Dr Vivian Balakrishnan.

Tunku Ismail also attended a hi-tea together with Singapore Minister of Culture, Community and Youth Edwin Tong at Shangri-La Hotel and witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Johor Football Association and Singapore Football Association.

"It involves cooperation in football development, including the establishment of an annual football tournament between the Johor Selection and Singapore Selection, beginning 2024," according to the Facebook post. - Bernama
