State polls: Pakatan Harapan yet to fix date to name candidates


PUTRAJAYA: Pakatan Harapan has yet to set a date to announce its candidates for the six state elections, says Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

The coalition secretary-general said Pakatan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has not notified him as to when the announcement will be made.

“Right now, I am settling all the administrative aspects of the elections.

“On whose name would be written on the letter of appointment for the election, that will be decided by the chairman.

“What is for sure, is that the names will be announced before July 29,” he told reporters on Wednesday (July 12).

The Election Commission has set July 29 for nomination day while polling is on Aug 12.

Barisan Nasional, Pakatan’s partner in the unity government, will be announcing its list of candidates on July 21.

The matter was announced by Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi after the unity government leadership consultative council meeting on Tuesday (July 11) night.
