Man dies in car-lorry crash on NSE near Kulai


KULAI: A 20-year-old man died on the spot after the car he was in was involved in an accident at KM29.1 of the North-South Expressway (NSE) stretch.

The Johor Fire and Rescue Department operations centre said they received an emergency call about a collision between a car and a lorry at 2.08pm on Thursday (July 13).

Six firemen from the Kulai Fire station with a Rapid Fire Rescue Tender vehicle and an Emergency Medical Response Services were dispatched.

"The unidentified lorry driver had fled the scene and we used special equipment to recover the victim who was trapped in the car,'' said senior officer II Fauzi Che Deris, who led the rescue operation.

He said the victim, who was a passenger in the car, was pronounced dead by a Health Ministry medical team at the scene while the 31-year-old car driver suffered injuries.

Fauzi said the driver was rushed to Kulai Hospital while the victim's body was handed over to police for further action.

The operation ended at 3.12pm.
