IPOH: Perak has the best employer-employee relations in Malaysia, says V. Sivakumar.

The Human Resources Minister said an analysis conducted by the Industrial Relations Department found that Perak scored highest in the Industrial Harmony Index (IHI) with 82.6%.

"The report is done once every two years. Perak has the best index and is the highest in the country," he said at a press conference after launching an industrial relations symposium at a hotel here on Thursday (July 13).

"The score has risen compared to the 80.3% score in 2020," he said, adding that a harmonious workplace environment can promote productivity, an important component to boost the country's economy," he said.

Industrial Relations Department director-general Khalid Jali said the IHI analysis had several dimensions which includes aspects of cooperation between employers and employees; handling conflicts through proper channels; responsibilities of employers, employees or unions; and the relationships between employers and employees.

"We have 24 instruments to measure the dimensions. We have received the feedback from 12,907 respondents, which included employers and employees from nine sectors in the country," he said.
