Perikatan free to insult Pakatan but royalty slur is overboard, says Fahmi


PETALING JAYA: Perikatan Nasional leaders are free to hurl insults at their political adversaries in the government, but a slur against royalty is overboard, says Fahmi Fadzil.

The Communications and Digital Minister said it is up to the authorities to take action against Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor for allegedly undermining Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah's prerogative to appoint the mentri besar.

"Muhammad Sanusi, you can say whatever you want and insult us. But, if you touch on the 3R (race, royalty and religion), you are rude," said Fahmi during a Jelajah Madani ceramah at Bukit Melawati on Wednesday (July 12).

Fahmi also criticised the conduct of Muhammad Sanusi and other Perikatan leaders.

"It seems that we cannot talk about facts with these people (Perikatan leaders). They only know how to insult and curse," said Fahmi.

He also criticised Perikatan leaders for constantly opposing the government's efforts to administer the country.

"That is why we want to fight 'Pertikaian' (dispute) Nasional," said Fahmi in an apparent reference to Perikatan.

In a video making its rounds on social media, Muhammad Sanusi appears to have belittled the appointment of Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

A police report was also lodged by Shah Alam PKR against Muhammad Sanusi on Thursday.
