Special committee to be formed for construction of Hospital Sultanah Aminah 2

JOHOR BARU: A special committee will be formed to discuss the construction of Hospital Sultanah Aminah 2 (HSA 2),says Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

The Johor Mentri Besar said he has met with Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan over the matter as the piece of land in Skudai earmarked as the site for HSA 2 was owned by his ministry.

“The building of HSA 2 is quite important as it could help to reduce the dependency and congestion at the existing hospital,” said Onn Hafiz.

He added that Mohamad has been cooperative throughout the discussions and of the proposal to use a piece of land belonging to the Defence Ministry for the project.

“We have come to an agreement on several matters and a special committee will be formed to discuss the issue in depth and refine the plans,” he said in a Facebook post on Thursday (July 13) after the meeting in Putrajaya.

Onn Hafiz added that he also hopes that the Federal and state governments’ continued collaboration could leave a positive impact on the lives of Johoreans, which would then boost the state’s development.

On June 18, Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said talks were ongoing between the Health and Defence Ministries over the hospital project and the final decision could take up to two to three months to come by.

Onn Hafiz and state health and unity committee chairman Ling Tian Soon had previously made various calls for the construction of HSA 2 to cater to the people’s needs and improve the healthcare services in the state.

On June 1, Onn Hafiz reportedly said HSA is the second busiest public hospital in the country after Hospital Kuala Lumpur.
