Batu Caves house fire: Family of four rushed to hospital for smoke inhalation


BATU CAVES: A couple and their two children suffered smoke inhalation after the house they were staying in caught fire late on Thursday (July 13) night.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail said they received a distress call about the incident at around 11.55pm on Thursday.

"We immediately dispatched two fire engines, a water tanker and two emergency medical rescue service vehicles and 20 personnel to the scene.

"They arrived at Jalan SE Utama, Taman Samudera at around 12.21am and found that a three storey terrace house had caught fire," he said adding that two children and an adult man and woman suffered from smoke inhalation and had to be rescued.

He said medical personnel who were at the scene gave first aid two the victims who suffered from smoke inhalation.

"One of the children, a girl, was immediately sent to the Selayang Hospital in an unconscious state.

"The three other victims have been stabilised," he said, adding that the cause of the fire was under investigation.

Wan Md Razali said a fireman Alias Dollah who was part of the rescue efforts also suffered smoke inhalation during the operations.

"He was also rushed to the Selayang Hospital for medical treatment," he said.
