‘Majority of S’gor Malays approve of Anwar, Amirudin’


PETALING JAYA: The majority of Malays in Selangor approve of the overall performance of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the unity government he leads, a survey has found.

According to the Selangor Malay Only Public Opinion Survey, 69% of the 1,068 respondents approved of Anwar’s performance while another 68% approved of the unity government he leads.

 The survey was conducted by research outfit Endeavour-MGC from June 12-18 involving 1,068 respondents, from a total of 1,910,841 registered Malay voters in Selangor.

The survey also found that 71% approved of Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari’s performance and the Pakatan Harapan-led state government.

It also said that 75% of the respondents stated that Pakatan should choose Amirudin as the Mentri Besar again if the coalition manages to defend Selangor in the coming state polls.

In another question on the survey, former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin came in second in the list of those best suited as Mentri Besar, with 24% of the votes after Amirudin who got 46%.Coming in third with 10% was Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz.

Of the respondents, 45% of them were from the B40 group with a monthly household income of RM4,850 and below; 40% from the M40 group (RM4,850 to RM10,959); and the remaining 15% from the T20 group (RM10,959 and above).

The survey was held in all 56 Selangor state constituencies.
