Motorcyclist killed in crash near Teluk Intan


IPOH: A 25-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a car at KM3 Jalan Changkat Jong-Teluk Intan, about 90km from here.

Hilir Perak OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Adnan Basri said the man died on the spot in the incident at 11.35pm on Thursday (July 13).

ACP Ahmad Adnan said initial investigations found that the motorcyclist was believed to be on the way home from Teluk Intan to Kampung Selabak.

"As he reached the junction, the car hit the right side of the motorcycle," he said in a statement on Friday (July 14).

He added that the car was travelling from Jalan Padang Tembak towards Jalan Kampung Bahagia.

"The motorcycle was dragged after the collision and burst into flames," he said.

"The motorcyclist fell onto the road and suffered serious head and body injuries.

"He was pronounced dead on the spot by medical personnel and the body has been sent to Hospital Teluk Intan's forensics unit for post-mortem," he added.

ACP Ahmad Adnan said the 31-year-old woman motorist and her 29-year-old female passenger sustained light injuries and were allowed to return home after receiving outpatient treatment.

"We have seized the vehicles involved to be checked.

"The matter will be investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act," he said, adding that the police were still trying to determine the cause of the accident.

"Those who have information on the incident are urged to come forward by contacting investigating officer Insp Mohd Hairy Baharuddin at 014-565 4565l.

"The police would also like to advise the people to be careful, courteous and to follow traffic rules at all times, especially at junctions," he added.
