Nothing to worry about low-flying aircraft in Sabah districts, says Air Force

KOTA KINABALU: Residents in Sabah’s east coast Tawau, Semporna and Lahad Datu districts have been advised to not be alarmed by low-flying aircraft in their areas starting next week.

These aircraft, said the Air Force, are part of its Kelawar Exercise Series 14/23 that would be flying low in the air space under Ops Pasir in the three districts from July 18 to 26.

In a statement on Friday (July 14), the Air Force said the exercise is aimed at enhancing the preparedness as well as the efficiency of its EC 725 AP aircrafts.

This would also improve their tactical flying in training to face possible conflicts and threats at nighttime, it said.

"During the course of the exercise, Air Force aircraft will be conducting tactical flights by flying low at certain areas that have been gazetted as training zones.

"The Air Force wishes to advise the public not to be alarmed or concerned if they see the low-flying aircraft during the period,” it added.
