State polls: DAP wants Aminuddin to serve second term as Negri MB, says Loke

SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan DAP wants Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun (pic) to serve a second term as Mentri Besar if Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional are able to defend the state in the Aug 12 polls.

DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook said Aminuddin, who is also state Pakatan Harapan chief, has proven to be a leader who had the interest of all communities at heart and had the full backing of the party.

"Aminuddin is not only a leader who has done extremely well but one who has been fair and just and looked after the interests of all races.

"We respect and salute him and want him retained as MB because he has delivered as the leader of our state," he said at a dinner organised by the party here.

Loke said he would convey the state DAP's stand to the Pakatan leadership.

He said the people should continue to support the unity government as it looked after the wellbeing of all.

"Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's government believes in multiracialism and this government fights for everyone.

"There is no other alternative and this is the only option we have," he said.

In the 2018 general election, Pakatan Harapan won 20 of the 36 state seats.

Barisan Nasional bagged the remaining 16.

Loke said all Pakatan MPs and assemblymen in Negri Sembilan have also served well and would continue doing so provided they got the mandate from the people.

"If we can win the state election convincingly, then we will be assured of political stability.

"We have a lot of investments coming our way and this can only happen if there is stability.

"We need to send a signal that Malaysians want a stable and strong government under Anwar Ibrahim," he added.
