Three Colombians charged with housebreaking in Seremban

SEREMBAN: Three Colombians were charged at the Magistrate's Court with breaking into a house in Taman Lavender Heights near here.

No plea was recorded from Oscar Ivan Delgado Pinzon, Alfonso Navas Danny Andres and Gutierrez Miller Camilo after they were charged before magistrate Nurul Saqinah Rosli.

The court agreed to a request from defence counsel Balqish Jaffri for a next mention date as her clients could neither understand English nor Bahasa Malaysia and needed the services of an interpreter.

Nurul Saqinah allowed the request and fixed Aug 15, for next mention.

The trio were charged under Section 457 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to 14 years upon conviction, for breaking into a house in Taman Lavender Heights, together with another person still at large, between 7.10pm and 9.10pm on June 22.

Pinzon and Camilo were also charged under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for entering Malaysia illegally.

They could be jailed for not more than five years or fined not more than RM10,000 or both and whipped not more than six times upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Nik Nur'Aqilah Syarfa Nik Zaidi asked the court not to offer bail and this was granted.

At another court, Andres was charged with entering the country illegally before magistrate Yusna Khadijah Md Yusop, while Camilo was charged with possession of various tools believed to have been used in house break-in.

He was charged under Section 28(i)(ii) of the Minor Offences Act 1955 which carries a fine of not more than RM250 or a jail term of not more than six months or both.

The court then fixed Aug 15 for next mention.
