SHAH ALAM: The Selangor Royal Council has called for Kedah Mentri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor to apologise for insulting Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

Five members of the council also lodged police reports on the matter at the Section 6 police station here yesterday.

Representing the five, Datuk Emran Kadir said they went to lodge the reports to facilitate police investigation into Muhammad Sanusi’s comments during a Perikatan Nasional ceramah recently.

“During the event, Muhammad Sanusi remarked that the appointment of the Selangor Mentri Besar made it seem like the Sultan had made the wrong choice.

“We take this as an insult to the Sultan,” he said.

He added that they generally were not bothered by the things Muhammad Sanusi said but it was wrong of him to touch on the royal Institution of another state.

“He insulted the Sultan openly during the ceramah so he must also make a public apology for his remarks,” he told reporters outside the police station.

Emran said the Selangor Sultan could appoint whoever he saw fit to be the Mentri Besar and he did so by electing one that was from the political party that won the most votes.

Also present were Tan Sri Ambrin Buang, Tan Sri Nik Muhammad Zawawi Salleh, Datuk Mohamad Adzib Mohd Isa and Datuk Kusrin Munawi.
