JOHOR BARU: More than RM100mil has been allocated by the government to upgrade three federal routes in Johor, which are expected to be completed by the end of 2025, says exco Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh.
The Johor works, transportation and infrastructure committee chairman said that the Federal Government had also agreed to bring forward the completion date of FT3 Mersing-Kota Tinggi from 2025 to this year.
"The government has allocated RM80mil for the four phases of upgrading work from FT1 Jalan Johor Baru to FT5 Jalan Pontian which will be given under a performance-based contract.
"Additionally, for three roads, namely FT1, FT3, and FT5, the government has allocated another RM100mil to complete these three projects," he said.
He said this when met by reporters after the Mega Gerak Kerjaya MyFuture Jobs Johor at Arena Larkin Stadium, here, on Saturday (July 15).
Mohamad Fazli also shared that the Federal Government had also approved speeding up the physical development of two major roadworks projects in the state, namely the North-South Expressway (PLUS) expansion and the overtaking lanes on the Senai Desaru Expressway (SDE).
"This was agreed upon during a recent meeting between Deputy Finance Minister 1 Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan and Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.
"Based on the previous schedule, the PLUS project was slated to start in November next year but was brought forward to February, while SDE was supposed to start in October next year but was brought forward to October this year," he said, adding that the state government was looking forward to these two projects.
The PLUS expansion project was expected to cost RM550mil while the SDE overtaking lane project is RM160mil, he added.
"Both projects have been approved and announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim earlier this year," said Mohamad Fazli.
