Dr M to attend Kelantan Perikatan's mega gathering on July 21

PETALING JAYA: Former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad will be attending a mega Perikatan Nasional gathering in Kelantan on Friday (July 21), says state coalition secretary Wan Roslan Wan Hamat.

"The gathering will take place at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium in Kota Baru.

"It was also confirmed to us that Dr Mahathir will be attending the gathering and he will give a speech to support us," he said.

Wan Roslan said the coalition is expecting a turnout of 80,000 people.

He also said many leading personalities who support Perikatan will attend the event.

On July 5, Perikatan chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said that Dr Mahathir has agreed in principle to support his coalition for the six state elections in August.

Muhyiddin said he had a "respectful and cordial" meeting with him, where they reached an agreement.

Polling for Selangor, Penang, Negri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu will be on Aug 12. Nomination is on July 29 and early voting on Aug 8.
