State polls: Several incumbents to be dropped from Penang DAP's line-up, says Loke

GEORGE TOWN: Several incumbent assemblymen from DAP will not be named as candidates for the upcoming Penang election as part of the party's renewal process, says Anthony Loke.

"Do not think of it as being dropped but rather as a party renewal process," the DAP secretary-general urged those not making the list," Loke after attending the state DAP fundraising dinner here on Sunday (July 16).

He added that still have not received the candidates list from Penang, which would be decided by the central executive committee.

Penang, he said, was an important state as the chief minister was from DAP and the party will do everything possible to defend the state for a fourth term.

On retaining a two-thirds majority, Loke said although the political scenario is different with the "onslaught" of Perikatan Nasional, especially in the Malay heartlands, Pakatan would work very hard to retain it.

"With the announcement Chow Kon Yeow as the chief minister, the coalition, is united to battle the Opposition under a single captain," he said.
