Two foreigners arrested over murder of countryman in JB


JOHOR BARU: Two foreigners have been arrested for the suspected murder of their fellow countryman at Taman Desa Cemerlang, Ulu Tiram here.

The victim had the right side of his neck slashed during a fight that occurred in a rented room at a shop at 11.15pm Saturday (July 15).

Seri Alam district police chief Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said the two suspects, aged 39, and 40, were arrested around 12.10am Sunday (July 16) following a public tip-off about the fight.

Three box cutters were also seized during the arrest.

The victim, a 37-year-old shop worker, was found unconscious in a pool of blood. He was confirmed dead and sent to the Sultan Ismail Hospital for an autopsy.

"Investigations revealed that the fight occurred when the victim provoked the suspects, who were drunk," he said in a statement.

Both suspects have been remanded for further investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, he added. - Bernama
