Woman linked to child’s death in Ipoh an experienced nanny

IPOH: The babysitter who was alleged to have abused a six-month-old baby who died on Friday (July 14) at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital is an experienced nanny, say police.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Hassan said the 52-year-old woman had 10 years of experience in taking care of babies.

"The victim was the 13th child under her care.

"She, however, does not have any licence," he said when contacted on Sunday (July 16).

On Friday, the police received a call from the hospital, who reported that the baby had died, having gone into a coma two days earlier.

The babysitter, who was arrested on July 13 and being investigated for neglecting or abusing a child, is now under investigation for murder.

She is being remanded until Monday (July 17).

ACP Yahaya said the parents, who flew back from Australia, claimed the victim's body on Sunday morning.

He added that the victim was the youngest of two siblings, as she has an older three-year-old brother.
