22-year-old arrested in Keningau for posing as a policeman


KOTA KINABALU: A man who was wearing a police T-shirt and vest with the word "Polis" on it has been arrested in the Keningau district.

The 22-year-old, who later tested positive for drugs, was asked to show his police ID and MyKad for confirmation and inspection during a Ops Samseng Jalanan roadblock at around 2pm on Sunday (July 16), but he was unable to produce the necessary documents.

Keningau OCPD Deputy Supt Nor Rafidah Kasim said the man was arrested on the spot.

"He was wearing a police T-shirt and a green vest with the words 'polis' written on it when he was apprehended," she said in a statement on Monday (July 17).

She added the suspect admitted he was dressed like that because he had a very high interest in becoming a policeman.

"Other items, including the motorcycle the suspect was riding, were seized for investigation purposes," DSP Rafidah added.

She said the suspect is being investigated for posing as a civil servant. among other matters.
