KJ tells Sanusi no harm will come from ‘toning it down’

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor should have a greater sense of propriety and be more watchful of his comments, said former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin.

He said the caretaker Kedah Mentri Besar might possess a “bravado” disposition but toning down what he says will not affect the “gung-ho” image which his followers admire.

Speaking during an episode of the “Keluar Sekejap” podcast, Khairy said Muhammad Sanusi’s comments which landed him in trouble did appear to be uncouth although he had claimed that it was spun by the media.

“I would like to personally tell MB Sanusi that he should have more propriety and this would not lead to him losing his ‘gung-ho’ image,” he said.

Former Umno information chief Shahril Hamdan who was on the programme with Khairy said he felt that Muhammad Sanusi was careless in his comments and did not realise it could hit a nerve when it touched on the royal institution.

“He was venting out at the Selangor MB (Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari) but ended up insulting the Sultan of Selangor,” he said.

Following Muhammad Sanusi’s speech, police initiated an investigation on him under the Sedition Act over 3R-linked offences that touched on religion, race and royalty.

Muhammad Sanusi sent a letter of apology to the Selangor Sultan on Friday.
