PETALING JAYA: Malaysian model and actress Nia Atasha Rosli is the first Malay model to model for the well-known lingerie label, Victoria's Secret.
The 27-year-old, who revealed the news recently on her Instagram account, will be the face of the #BeAuthenticBeYou campaign together with Miss Universe Malaysia 2018 Jane Teoh and Thai model and actress Janie Tienphosuwan.
On July 4, Victoria's Secret Malaysia launched their first-ever global campaign highlighting women's empowerment while showcasing Victoria's Secret's T-shirt bra collection.
In an interview with lifestyle magazine Eh Malaysia at the launch, Nia Atasha said she was honoured to be one of the faces of Victoria's Secret.
"It's an honour, honestly. This is a big opportunity. I've always had a dream since I started modelling to be the face of (Victoria's Secret) or in a campaign for (them) and here we are.
"It's going to be in all stores internationally, and it's a big deal. I'm so happy," she said.
Nia Atasha later also shared a video compilation of the launch on her Instagram, crediting her teams in Malaysia and the United States.
"Shout out to the whole team involved in making all this happen!
"The best part of all this was working with an all-women production team @womenphotographersmy, to create this amazing campaign.
"All love to the local MY and US teams for being the most beautiful people to work with and for taking a chance on me and giving me this opportunity," she said, adding that she was still processing everything and in "pinch-me" mode.
Many of her followers and Malaysian celebrities have been sending congratulatory messages and well-wishes for her achievement in representing Malaysia on a popular global brand.
However, her international feat is not all well-received, with saying she needed to be covered up as she is a Muslim.
Nia Atasha, who is from Kuala Lumpur, has been modelling and acting since 2014.
She has previously worked with other prestigious international brands, such as Louis Vuitton, Dior, Gucci and Calvin Klein.
