Road accident in Melaka kills two

MELAKA: A furniture outlet employee and a clerk were killed on their way to work when a car rammed into them along Jalan Pulau Gadong in Klebang here.

Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit identified the victim as 18-year-old Imran Nur Azrin Noriman from Taman Bertam Ria and 32-year-old Nurul Rahimah Abdul Samad from Taman Jati Indah here.

He said both of the victims were riding separate motorcycles to their respective workplaces when the accident occurred at 8.30am on Monday (July 17).

ACP Christopher Patit said the 36-year-old driver of the car was on his way from Klebang and heading towards the Alor Gajah-Melaka Tengah-Jasin Highway (AMJ) before he lost control of his vehicle and skidded at the stretch.

He said the two victims were killed on the spot.

ACP Christopher said the car driver sustained minor injuries and the accident is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
