State polls: Muda names candidates for Terengganu and Penang

PETALING JAYA: Muda has unveiled six more candidates including those contesting for seats in Terengganu and Penang in the upcoming state elections.

In a press conference on Monday (July 17), Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman named party co-founder and information chief Luqman Long as the first Muda candidate to contest in Terengganu.

Luqman will be contesting for the Bandar state seat while Muda’s first Penang candidate, Priyanka Loh, will be fielded in the Pantai Jerejak state seat.

The remaining four candidates will be contesting in Selangor, namely Al Hafiz Ikhwan for Dusun Tua, Dr Siva Prakash (Kuala Kubu Bharu), Dobby Chew (Seri Setia) and Afriena Shaqira Sariff (Sungai Kandis).

Muda now has a total of 10 candidates contesting in the Aug 12 polls.

Previously, Muda revealed four candidates who will be contesting in Selangor, namely in Seri Serdang, Sentosa, Batu Tiga and Bukit Antarabangsa.

Asked why the majority of the seats Muda was contesting were also Pakatan Harapan seats, Syed Saddiq said politicians should not take the people’s votes lightly.

“The seats we are contesting belong to the people. Most of the leaders now are too comfortable and take the people’s votes lightly,” he said in a press conference at the party’s headquarters on Monday (July 17).

Of the 10 seats, nine of them were won by Pakatan in the 14th General Election.
