Johor Ruler undergoes successful operation on his shoulder

PETALING JAYA: Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar underwent successful surgery to repair his right shoulder at the Damansara Specialist Hospital 2 on Tuesday (July 18).

In a post on Sultan Ibrahim’s official Facebook page, it said the Johor Ruler had undergone a three hour surgery to treat impingement of the shoulder and relieve pain.

"The surgery also involved surgical treatment of the collarbone to help with shoulder pain.

"No admission to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) was required. However, His Majesty still needs post-surgical radiofrequency treatment and is expected to be warded for a few days," it said.

Sultan Ibrahim also spent some time with the medical team after the operation.

"The surgery went very well and I am doing fine. I wish to thank all the doctors and nurses. I hope to be back to normal in no time," the Johor Ruler said on Tuesday (July 18).

The medical team that carried out the surgery involved orthopaedic surgeons Dr Tan Chin Khoon, Dr Simmrat Singh Jagdis Singh and Dr Shamsul Iskandar Hussein; radiologist, Dr Naveen Rajadurai as well as anaesthetists Dr Zuraini Md Noor and Datin Dr Vanitha Sivanase.

On Sunday (July 16), Johor Royal Court Council president Datuk Dr Abdul Rahim Ramli said the Johor Ruler had decreed that he would still attend the Kembara Mahkota Johor road trip following his surgery.

"Post-surgery, Sultan Ibrahim might need to keep his arm in a sling following the doctor’s advice, but His Majesty has said that this will not hinder him from performing his duties of meeting with the people in every district," Abdul Rahim said.
