KUALA LUMPUR: PAS calls on all its members and supporters to remain calm and respect the legal process, says Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan.

The party secretary-general said this in a statement after caretaker Kedah mentri besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor was arrested by the police at 3am on Tuesday July 18) morning before being charged under the Sedition Act at the Selayang Sessions Court.

In a brief statement, Takiyuddin said the Islamist party has been closely following Sanusi’s case.

“PAS advises all quarters, especially party members and supporters, to remain calm and respect the legal process,” he said.

PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, in a Facebook post, also urged party members and supporters to stay away from any form of provocation.

“The leadership is managing the case as best as we can together with Luham (PAS legal bureau) and other quarters, especially the lawyers who are ready to help Sanusi.

“PAS urges all members to pray to Allah so that he (Sanusi) will be given strength and success in facing this challenge,” he said.

Muhammad Sanusi claimed trial to a charge under the Sedition Act at the Selayang Sessions Court here on Tuesday (July 18).

The PAS election director is accused of uttering a seditious statement that could incite disloyalty to the Rulers.

The offence was allegedly committed on July 11.
