PETALING JAYA: Caretaker Kedah mentri besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor was arrested by the police at 3am Tuesday (July 18), says his political secretary Hilmi Abd Wahab.
A video posted on social media early this morning showed Muhammad Sanusi being surrounded by plainclothes policemen and Hilmi said that a group of 20 policemen had waited outside his hotel room before he was taken to the Gombak police headquarters.
“Muhammad Sanusi had just returned to his hotel room at 11pm last night after attending the Perikatan Nasional Supreme Council meeting. At 2am, we saw two men in dark clothes standing at the emergency exit of level 33A and at 2.10am, there were five more men.

“At 2.30am, they knocked on Muhammad Sanusi's room door and there were 20 policemen outside the room.
“He was then ordered out of his room, brought downstairs and ushered into an MPV, which we were told was headed to the Gombak district police headquarters.
“We were informed by the police that he was detained under Section 4(1)(A) of the Sedition Act,” said Hilmi.
The PAS election director’s other aides said that they were told to head to the Selayang Sessions Court later Tuesday morning as he will be charged there.
Checks on the https://efs.kehakiman.gov.my/ website had showed that Muhammad Sanusi's cases have been registered at two separate Selayang Sessions Courts before judges Nor Rajiah Mat Zin and Osman Affendi Mohd Shalleh at 9am.
It is believed that Muhammad Sanusi, who is also Perikatan national elections director, will be charged due his statement that had allegedly insulted the Selangor royal institution.
The Mentri Besar had issued an apology to the Sultan of Selangor last Friday.
