BATU GAJAH: Four children who lost both parents in an accident last week will receive aid from Tronoh assemblyman Steven Tiw Tee Siang, who will be allocating RM200 monthly for each child for a year.

“In a split second the four became orphans after an accident along Jalan Gopeng-Kota Baru on July 10 when their 63-year-old grandmother tried to avoid a dog while driving along that road," he said.

“At the time of the accident the parents of the children, the grandmother and the youngest of the four siblings were in the car," added Tiw.

He said the accident happened after the family sent their eldest daughter to the Gopeng Matriculation College and were on their way to buy pillows and other necessities for her.

Tiw announced the assistance when visiting the children and their grandmother in Kampung Serkai Jadi, Tronoh on Wednesday (July 19).

The deceased are school laboratory assistant Mohd Ramddan Abd Rahim, 44, and his wife Kisdalliana Saad, 43, who worked in a fish cracker factory in Tronoh.

The four children are Nur Fatin Syafikah Mohd Ramddan, 18; Mohd Ikman Hafifi, 17; Mohd Aiman Daniel, 13; and Nur Fatihah Najihah, seven.

Nur Fatihah sustained severe injuries, and is still warded at Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun in Ipoh, where Nur Fatin Syafikah is looking after her.

Mohd IkmanHafifi and Mohd Aiman Daniel did not follow the others on the trip.

Their 63-year-old grandmother Noraini Ahmad sustained neck injuries but has since been discharged.

Tiw also presented her with a wheelchair and a walking frame, while non-governmental organisation Pertubuhan Sahabat Amal Perak presented RM500 to her.

Noraini said it was such a happy trip for the family, because they were going to enrol her granddaughter in college.

“My son and my daughter-in-law had no driving licence, and usually I am the one driving them around.

“I was surprised – my son usually dislikes taking selfies, but he took so many photos that day. He also told me to eat whatever I wanted, as everything was on him,” she said.

Mohd Ikman Hafifi said he and his younger brother were supposed to go along but his mother told them to stay back to take care of the house.

“After some time I was told by relatives that my parents met with an accident. I thought it was a minor one, but then I got a call from my sister telling me that our parents were no more.

“We are all still in shock. Now I just hope my little sister will be okay, and will return home soon,” added Mohd Ikman.
