Student sent to Tampoi over killing of brother

MELAKA: A Form Two student has been charged with killing his younger sibling at their home in Kampung Bukit Piatu.

The charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder was read out to the accused before magistrate Sharda Shienha Mohd Suleiman yesterday.

The accused, who was accompanied by his parents, merely nodded during the proceedings.

Based on the facts of the case, the accused had allegedly choked his nine-year-old brother to death between 11.30am and 12.35pm at a house in Kampung Bukit Piatu, Melaka Tengah, on July 5.

The court also ordered for the accused to undergo a psychiatric assessment at the Permai Hospital in Tampoi, Johor.

Deputy public prosecutor Muhamad Ehsan Nasarudin prosecuted while the 14-year-old was unrepresented.

According to earlier reports, a neighbour received a call from the victim’s mother about an incident involving the boy, the eldest of four, and his younger brother.

The mother had viewed CCTV footage and alerted the neighbour.

The victim was found lifeless with injuries on his head, nose and neck at the hall of the house.
