PETALING JAYA: Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor says he is ready to fully cooperate with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) regarding the investigation into the theft of rare earth elements (REE) in Bukit Enggang, Sik.
He said any authority was welcome to conduct investigations regarding REE or involving the administration of the state government.
Sinar Harian quoted him saying that the Mentri Besar's Office is always open to receiving visits from the authorities on any issue raised.
"I will fully cooperate with any investigation by any authority. I have said many times, since becoming Mentri Besar, that the office and I are open to being investigated by the MACC or any agency," he said.
Muhammad Sanusi also invited authorities to contact him at any time.
"Can come, investigate 25 hours a day, eight days a week. You can contact me via WhatsApp, if I don't have time to answer the phone," he said jokingly.
MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki had said the anti-graft agency had called 12 witnesses in relation to the case of corruption and abuse of power in the theft of REE in Kedah.
According to him, all the witnesses called have had their statements recorded to assist the investigation while several more witnesses including Muhammad Sanusi will be called in the near future.
On Wednesday (July 19), the MACC arrested the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Kedah Mentri Besar Corporation (MBI) and a company director to assist in the investigation into REE mining activities involving more than RM13mil in bribes.
