Former DCMs George Chan, Alfred Jabu head list of Sarawak award recipients

KUCHING; Two former deputy chief ministers of Sarawak - Tan Sri George Chan and Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang - topped the list of 51 medal recipients in conjunction with Sarawak’s 60th Independence anniversary celebration on Saturday (July 22).

Chan and Jabu were awarded the Pingat Pemacu Peringatan Terbilang Jubli Intan at the investiture ceremony graced by Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg here.

Also conferred the same medal were former state secretary Tan Sri Bujang Mohd Nor, former energy, communications and multimedia minister Tan Sri Leo Moggie, and former Kapit MP Tan Sri Leonard Linggi Jugah.

Meanwhile, 46 individuals were awarded Pingat Peringatan Cemerlang Jubli Intan (Gold).

They include three deputy premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian.

Other recipients are Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi; Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri; and Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.
