Good Vibes organiser slams The 1975 for not honouring assurances


PETALING JAYA: Good Vibes Festival 2023 (GVF) organiser Future Sound Asia (FSA) says The 1975 did not honour assurances that it would obey performance guidelines.

In a statement Saturday (July 22), FSA apologised for the cancellation of the show following lead singer Matty Healy's "controversial conduct and remarks", Reuters reported.

FSA also said The 1975's management had promised that the band would obey performance guidelines.

"Regretably, Healy did not honour those assurances," the statement read.

FSA also expressed concern that the incident could "erode the confidence of music promoters and various stakeholders...and threaten the stability of our burgeoning live arts scene".

The Good Vibes Festival ran into controversy after English pop rock band The 1975's frontman Matty Healy publicly attacked local laws and breached local performance guidelines.

The band was later blacklisted from performing in the country and GVF was subsequently cancelled.
