SIBU: Iban teenager, Jessica Ajik David, captured the prestigious Kumang title with her beauty, poise and elegance at the Borneo Cultural Festival on Friday (July 21) night.

With her family cheering her on during the catwalk, Jessica, 18, dressed in Iban traditional attire called “Ngepan” confidently showed her charm and beauty that impressed the judges.

The win was her third this year. She had also won the 2023 Kumang title at the Song Festival and at the Parti Bersatu Sarawak (PSB) Gawai night.

"I was shocked when my name was announced as the winner. I did not expect this as other girls were equally good," said Jessica, who is from Skuau.

She brought home RM5,000 along with a crown, sash, trophy, hamper and a bouquet of flowers.

The title of “Lulong” or runner-up was awarded to Clara Amanda Buyong, who is RM3,000 richer. She also collected a sash, trophy and hamper.

Meanwhile, Angelina Rani Gawan took the “Selinggar Matahari” or third place, which came with RM2,000 along with a sash, trophy and hamper.
