State polls: Selangor is where it all began for Pakatan, says Amirudin

KLANG: Selangor was the starting point for all that Pakatan Harapan has achieved and it was also the starting point for its downfall from federal power, says Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

The Selangor caretaker mentri besar said this in his speech before the name of PKR candidates for the upcoming six state polls are announced.

"This state was the starting point for our rise but this state was also the starting point for our downfall in the last term," said Amirudin.

According to him, Pakatan's achievements in several states, consistency at the federal level as well as PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's installation as the 10th prime minister were all spurred by Pakatan's administration of the state since 2008.

He thanked Pakatan's stalwarts for making a dream come true.

"It was a very long and winding road, filled with trials as well as up and downs," said Amirudin.

Later, when delivering his speech, Anwar reiterated that Amirudin will continue as the Selangor mentri besar after the polls.

He praised Amirudin as a mentri besar known for going down to the ground and mingling with the masses.
