Fire razes four shops in Johor’s Larkin Market


JOHOR BARU: Four shops at the Larkin Market here were destroyed by a fire that broke out early Sunday (July 23) morning.

Larkin Fire and Rescue department operation commander Mohd Faiz Suleiman said 27 firemen were deployed to the scene after the department received a call at about 6.50am.

"Two book stores were about 90% damaged by the fire.

"The fire also razed a shop selling cosmetics and herbs, which was 70% damaged and a perfume shop, which suffered 10% damage," he said in a statement here.

He noted that, however, no injuries were reported in the incident.

"We managed to control the fire at about 8.25am but the operation is still ongoing," he said.

The Larkin Market or better known as Pasar Awam Larkin is located next to the Larkin Sentral Bus Terminal in Johor Baru.
