Johor declares special holiday on July 23 after JDT wins FA Cup


JOHOR BARU: Sunday (July 23) has been declared a special holiday for Johor, in celebration of the Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) football team winning the FA Cup 2023.

In a statement on Facebook, Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi congratulated JDT for winning the FA Cup after defeating Kuala Lumpur City FC.

"Congratulations JDT!

"As per the Sultan Ibrahim's decree, the state government has decided to observe Sunday, July 23, as a special holiday for the whole of Johor in celebration of JDT winning the FA Cup 2023," he said in a statement here Saturday (July 22) night.

He also thanked Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim for his continued efforts to develop JDT into a reputable football club in Malaysia and Asia.

"This is the second victory for Skuad Harimau Selatan this year after winning the Sumbangsih Cup earlier this year.

"This is also the third time JDT has won the FA Cup after 2016 and 2022," he added.
