KOTA KINABALU: Sabah is looking at launching two more industrial parks amid growing investor confidence in the state, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

He said the state Cabinet had agreed for development of the industrial parks in south western Kimanis and the second in northern Kota Belud-Kota Marudu districts as the current two industrial parks have been fully taken up.

He said the proposed Kimanis Industrial Park would focus on oil and gas industries and would complement the neighbouring Sipitang's Sabah Oil and Gas Industrial Park (SOGIP) which had been fully taken up by various investors.

Similarly, he said the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP) was more or less fully taken up by various general industries.

Hajiji, who was speaking at the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Wanita wing's roadshow launching here Sunday (July 23), said the plans for the industrial park to be developed in Kota Belud-Kota Marudu area would also be for general industries similar to KKIP.

He said that there was sufficient government land available for the development of the parks though they were still looking for the ideal place to site the parks.

Hajiji said that since GRS took over the state government over two years ago, there was growing interest by both foreign and local investors in doing business Sabah.

"They are confident with the state government and like to work with us," he said, adding that many foreign envoys have also encouraged their citizens to set up businesses in Sabah which were investor friendly.

He urged all party members under GRS to maintain and strengthen unity to ensure the party's help in the development and betterment of the state and the people.
