PETALING JAYA: After causing a controversy that led to the cancellation of the Good Vibes Festival, members of British pop band The 1975 left the country in haste.
Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the band left the country on Saturday morning.
“There’s not much that can be done in terms of action against them. That said, we will hold the organisers responsible for their actions,” he said when contacted yesterday.
It was reported that the band’s frontman Matty Healy was defiant and showed no remorse for his behaviour on stage.
On Friday, Healy started ranting on stage about the country’s LGBTQ laws before kissing bassist Ross MacDonald at the show held at Sepang International Circuit.
Organisers pulled the plug on the band’s performance and the remaining two days of the music festival were cancelled by the Communications and Digital Ministry.
Comm Hussein was quoted as saying that three reports had been lodged at the KLIA police headquarters on Saturday over the incident.
Those involved in the incident have been called up, he added.
He said investigations were initiated under Sections 509 and 504 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act.
It was reported that the band had announced the cancellation of its performance at the We The Fest concert in Indonesian capital Jakarta yesterday, as well as a scheduled performance in Taiwan tomorrow.
