Man lodges police report over alleged assault at FA Cup final


ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police are investigating a case regarding a man claiming to have been assaulted by the Johor Military Force (JMF) while watching the FA Cup final at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium here on Saturday (July 22).

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Rahmat Ariffin said a police report was lodged by a 30-year-old man on Sunday (July 23) at 11.50am at the Sungai Besi police station in Kuala Lumpur.

“The victim has claimed that he had been beaten while watching the football match between Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) and Kuala Lumpur (KL) City.

“The victim had returned to Kuala Lumpur and received treatment at Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (HUKM),” he said in a statement here on Monday (July 24).

ACP Rahmat added that the doctor had confirmed that the victim had suffered a broken nose, bleeding on the head and right eye, and swelling all over his body.

The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous harm.

“Those who have witnessed the incident are urged to come forward to help with the investigations,” he said.

Earlier, a three-minute video was posted by a TikTok user named Daddy Man Trader showing a few men being escorted out of the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium by the JMF for allegedly creating a provocation.

At the time of writing, the video had received more than 4 million views.
