PETALING JAYA: Umno Merbok Division's Datuk Shaiful Hazizy Zainol Abidin (pic) will contest Kedah’s Tanjung Dawai constituency in the upcoming state elections, says party secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.

He said this would complete the 108 seats in total in which Barisan Nasional would be fielding its candidates in all six states.

"With the mandate from Barisan chairman, the candidate for N26 Tanjung Dawai, Kedah is Shaiful Hazizy," he said in a statement on Facebook on Monday (July 24).

Asyraf also said he expressed Barisan’s gratitude to Pakatan Harapan who had given way for the coalition to contest at the constituency.

The incumbent assemblyman is Perikatan Nasional’s Hanafi Ghazali.

Last Friday (July 21), coalition chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that Barisan would be contesting 15 in Kedah, Terengganu (27), Kelantan (31), Penang (six), Selangor (12) and Negri Sembilan (17).
