Penang cops nab 85 during raid at nightclub


GEORGE TOWN: A total of 85 people including 35 women were detained in a raid at a nightclub here on Sunday (July 23).

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Soffian Santong said the raid by George Town Narcotic Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) took place at Lebuh Noordin at about 2.15am.

ACP Soffian said urine samples were taken from all those detained with two men and a woman, aged between 22 and 27, testing positive for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and Benzo.

Those who were detained were remanded for a day for further investigation and has since been released on police bail.

"The public are advised not to engage in any activities related to drug abuse when visiting entertainment centres," he said in a statement.

The case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
