Teen biker dies after crashing into lamp post in Labuan


KOTA KINABALU: A teenage motorcyclist was killed after crashing his motorcycle into a lamp post in Labuan.

Labuan OCPD Supt Mohd Hamizi Halim said the 18-year-old victim lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into the lamp post along the Pohon Batu, Kg Lajau road at 2.31am on Tuesday.

"He sustained severe injuries and was sent to the Nukleus Hospital Labuan," he said.

He said the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 8.35am.

Supt Hamizi urged parents to be more aware of their children's activities and also advised road users to be more careful.

This case is being investigated for causing death and reckless driving under the Road Transport Act 1987.
