Trio nabbed for possessing over 10kg of heroin in Ipoh


IPOH: A man, together with his wife and sister-in-law, have been arrested after they were caught in possession of over 10kg of heroin.

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the man, 30, his wife, 27, and his 19-year-old sister-in-law were nabbed at their house in Jelapang here on Sunday (July 23) at about 3 pm.

“We seized drugs worth about RM89,000 and also equipment believed to have been used for packing them,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (July 25).

"The police also seized 22 jewellery pieces worth RM82,668 and three vehicles; a lorry, a car, and a motorcycle, worth RM109,500," he added.

Comm Mohd Yusri said the syndicate is believed to have started in September last year.

"The drugs seized are to be distributed to the local market which can be used by at least 15,000 drug addicts.

“The man is a lorry driver while the two women are unemployed," he said.

“The married couple also tested positive for morphine, while the husband also has a criminal record.

"The couple will be remanded for six days starting July 24 while the teenager is remanded for three days from the same date to help with the investigations,” he added.
