Cops take statements from school principal, students over Gunung Rapat bullying case

IPOH: Police have recorded three statements over the bullying case at a secondary school in Gunung Rapat, here.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Hassan said the statements were taken from the school’s principal and other students.

"The victim is a 15 year-old-student from Kuala Lumpur, who suffered a soft tissue injury to his left face and received medical treatment as an outpatient at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital.

"The bully has been identified as a 17-year-old student from the same school. While he is still in school, he has been ordered to not stay at the school’s dorm as the investigation is still ongoing," he said in a statement on Wednesday (July 26).

Earlier, Perak Education Committee chairman Khairudin Abu Hanipah revealed that the incident occurred on Monday (July 24) when the victim was hit and kicked by his senior.

He added that the school is currently following the standard operating procedure and is investigating the matter as well.

Comm Yahaya added that the victim's mother had lodged a police report on Monday (July 24).

"We are still investigating the matter and once it is completed, we will submit the paper to the deputy public prosecutor for the next course of action," he said.
