Malaysia Tourism Council deregistered, hopes to meet minister to seek solution

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysia Tourism Council (MTC) has been deregistered by the Registrar of Societies (RoS), said the council's secretariat.

MTC said this was due to the work of certain parties with ill intentions, despite its attempts to work with all members.

"We are saddened that although the secretary-general pursued the matter relentlessly, the association has been de-registered," said MTC in a statement on Wednesday (July 26).

"Despite our efforts in adhering to the registration guidelines, certain ulterior motives have prevailed," read the statement, which added that police investigations into the alleged mismanagement of MTC funds were ongoing.

"We have diligently addressed all queries by RoS, and will continue to appeal to the Home Ministry on the issue.

"We hope to meet the Minister and seek a solution to continue MTC's role in moving the tourism industry forward," it added.
