INTERNET users have mooted an initiative in support of the affected vendors following the abrupt cancellation of the Good Vibes Festival. Sharing the list of affected vendors, social media users called on Malaysians to lend a helping hand by buying the stock of food and other perishables from the affected food vendors.
China Press reported that among the vendors were A Pie Thing, Hijau, Kingu Kongu, myBurgerLab, Nomms Fried Chicken, Pizza Mansion and Sausage Sizzle Malaysia, which have invested more than RM10,000 each in food preparation for the festival.
Galen Centre chief executive officer Azrul Mohd Khalib also discussed the solidarity among Malaysians in the aftermath of the festival’s cancellation. “Don’t just be angry. Support the affected vendors and help them recover from this debacle,” he said.
The three-day event that began on July 21 was cancelled the next day, when it was supposed to run until July 23.
Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil had earlier said that MyCreative Ventures, a government investment arm supporting the Malaysian creative industry, would assist local artistes and food vendors affected by the abrupt cancellation of the festival.
> Oriental Daily reported that a 26-year-old Taiwanese man ran afoul of the law for peeping at his two female housemates.
The man, surnamed Lin, had drilled seven holes measuring 10mm in diameter on his female housemates’ doors. His lewd act was uncovered when the girls noticed the abnormal holes and alerted the property’s manager, who then called the police.
The police inspected the unit and conducted a DNA match between Lin and those found on the girls’ doors. Lin admitted his act during court proceedings and reached an out-of-court settlement with one of the victims. He was also sentenced to serve jail time and pay compensation to the other victim, along with a fine.
Lin initially denied it, arguing that he might have accidentally come into contact with the door while fastening his shoelaces.
However, Lin was also sentenced to serve jail time and pay compensation to the other victim, along with a fine.
