Robbers cart away RM1mil worth of jewellery from Tanjung Rambutan goldsmith


IPOH: About RM1mil worth of jewellery was stolen from a goldsmith in Tanjung Rambutan.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Hassan said it was believed that the incident took place between 1am and 3am Wednesday (July 26).

ACP Yahaya said three suspects, who wore face masks, broke into the premises through the back door.

"They carted away about 3kg worth of jewellery from the shop.

"The suspects used a grinder to break open a safe to steal the items," he said in a statement.

"We received information about the incident from the shop owner at about 10.30am," he added.

ACP Yahaya said the police were now trying to locate the three suspects, with the case being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for break-in and theft.

"Those with information of the incident are urged to come forward to help with investigations.

"They can contact senior investigating officer Asst Supt Norshaharah Marzuki on 010-379 0508," he said.
